Find Your Level
The back stretcher’s base has three notches. Each one sets how high the board arches — and how deep the stretch is. Everyone starts on Level 1.
| Level | Arch Height | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | ~7 cm (2.8″) | Your first two weeks, and gentler days |
| 2 | ~9 cm (3.6″) | Once Level 1 feels easy for a full five minutes |
| 3 | ~11 cm (4.4″) | A deeper stretch for flexible, practised backs |
Not sure? Stay lower for longer. The stretch should feel like relief, not effort — most people never need Level 3.

Nine Hours Curled Forward, Zero the Other Way
Desk, car, couch — your lower back spends the whole day rounded in the same direction, and by evening that turns into the familiar dull lower back pain and stiffness that a quick stand-and-twist never quite shifts. Stretching it backwards by hand is awkward to do and almost impossible to hold; lying over a rolled towel collapses the moment you relax onto it.
A Curve Your Back Can Rest On
The back stretcher holds the extension stretch for you. You lie back over it, knees bent, and let your own weight settle for five minutes — the foam pad cushions your spine while the surface works into the muscles either side. Three lockable levels set how deep it goes.
What Makes It Different?
Three Lockable Arch Levels
The board clips into the base at 7, 9 or 11 cm of arch. It can’t slip between settings mid‑stretch — you choose the depth, it holds it.
Foam Lumbar Pad Down the Centre
A ribbed foam strip runs the length of the board exactly where your spine sits, so the bones rest on cushioning while the stretch happens around them. It lifts off for cleaning.
Acupressure Surface
Rows of rounded nubs sit under the muscles either side of your spine. As your weight settles, they press in the way fingertips would — firm at first, then it eases as you relax.
Two Pieces, No Tools
The back stretcher snaps together in seconds, pulls apart just as fast, and stores flat under a bed or car seat. Rigid ABS construction with no motors, batteries or straps — nothing to charge, nothing to wear out.
Is It Right for You?
✓ Great if you:
- Sit most of the day and end it with lower back pain or stiffness
- Keep meaning to stretch but never hold anything long enough to matter
- Want a routine that’s five minutes lying down, not a workout
- Liked how a foam roller felt but couldn’t balance on one
- Want something that lives under the couch, not a machine
✕ Not for you if you:
- Are recovering from a back injury or surgery — talk to your clinician first
- Have osteoporosis, a diagnosed spinal condition, or are pregnant
- Have been prescribed a specific treatment plan this would replace
- Want a powered massager with heat and vibration — this is a stretch, not a massage gun
Five Minutes, Flat on the Floor
Clip It to Level 1
Snap the board onto the base at the lowest notch and lay it on a firm surface — floor or rug, not the bed.
Lie Back, Knees Bent
Sit in front of it, lower yourself back so the pad sits under your lower back, feet flat. Arms by your sides, and let your weight settle for one to five minutes.
Roll Off Sideways
Don’t sit straight up off the arch. Roll gently to one side, push up with your arms, and stand slowly. Done once or twice a day, that’s the whole routine.
Frequently Asked Questions
We're a Customer-First brand. If your question isn't here, reach out and our team will get back to you.
Which level should I start on?+
Level 1, without exception — even if you're flexible, even if it feels too easy on day one. Your back needs a week or two to get used to extension it hasn't done in years.
Move up only when a full five minutes on your current level feels genuinely comfortable. Most people settle permanently on Level 1 or 2; Level 3 is a deep stretch for practised backs, not a goal.
How long and how often should I use it?+
Start with one to two minutes, once a day. Build up to five minutes, once or twice a day — a common pattern is after work and before bed.
More isn't better. It's a stretch, and like any stretch the benefit comes from doing it regularly, not from marathon sessions.
Is it supposed to feel intense at first?+
The first few sessions usually feel firm — the acupressure nubs are doing their job, and your back isn't used to the shape yet. Wearing a t-shirt rather than lying on bare skin takes the edge off while you adjust.
Firm is fine; pain is not. If anything feels sharp, or you feel worse afterwards rather than looser, stop using it and check in with your GP or physio.
Is it supposed to make my back crack?+
Sometimes you'll hear a pop or crack as you settle over the arch — the same harmless sound as cracking your knuckles — and plenty of people find it satisfying. That's why this style of board is often searched for as a “back cracker board.”
But it's not the goal and not a sign it's working. The stretch is doing its job whether your back is noisy or silent. If a crack ever comes with sharp pain, stop and check in with your GP or physio.
Can I use it on my bed or couch?+
A firm surface works best — the floor, ideally on a rug or yoga mat. On a soft mattress the base sinks in and you lose most of the arch, which is the part doing the work.
The exception is seated use: the board also rests against the back of an office chair or car seat as a lumbar support while you sit.
How big is it, and will it fit my back?+
The board is about the width of an adult lower back and targets the lumbar region — the belt line up to the bottom of the ribs. It's one size, with the fit adjusted through the three arch levels rather than the board itself.
Assembled it's roughly the footprint of a sheet of A4 paper and stores flat in two pieces, so it lives happily under a bed, in a drawer or in the car.
I have a back injury or diagnosed condition — is this suitable?+
We can't advise on individual medical conditions. This is a general stretching aid, not a medical or therapeutic device, and it isn't a substitute for treatment.
If you're recovering from an injury or surgery, have osteoporosis or a diagnosed spinal condition, are pregnant, or are under a treatment plan, check with your GP, specialist or physiotherapist before using it.
Does it need assembly or maintenance?+
It arrives as two pieces plus the foam pad and snaps together in under a minute, no tools. Setting the level is the same clip action — you'll do it without thinking after the first go.
There's nothing to charge or replace. Wipe the board with a damp cloth; the foam pad lifts off so you can clean it separately.
What if it's not for me?+
You're covered by our 30-day money-back guarantee. Use it for a couple of weeks — the fair test is a fortnight of short daily sessions — and if it isn't earning its spot under your couch, contact us and we'll sort out a refund.
